What Special Gift Can I Give a Baby This Christmas?  [Valid RSS feed]

With Christmas round the corner, it’s never too early to start looking around for presents for your friends and loved ones. This time however, I have the added joy of selecting a present for my little niece who will be celebrating her very first Christmas this year. Excited as i was, I couldn’t help thinking no matter what I gave, she wouldn’t care or understand; but then again; she would one day and i wanted it to be something that would bring back memories of her first Christmas when she is old enough to understand.

She has enough and more of useful items such as a lovely crib, a darling little pram, and clothes to last until next Christmas. Anyway, I couldn’t imagine my little niece drooling over sleep suits, mitts and socks or even bubble baths and baby lotions no matter how useful and appreciated they are, at least by the parents. Toys are an obvious choice, and there’s such a vast selection that one is spoilt for choice. Toys however seemed too common place although a personalized Teddy was not a bad idea. Kids love Teddies and tend to keep them even when they are grown up; scruffy and dirty as they are sometimes. That’s it I thought when I saw a pretty pink Teddy Message Bear with a baby’s name printed on the jumper.

But wait a minute, there was another Teddy gift and this looked even better. It was a Teddy design set of cutlery consisting of knife, fork and spoon which the salesman was quick to point out could be engraved with baby’s name. Definitely a keepsake was my thought and she could also have lots of fun with it at mealtimes. I decided to look around some more and came across some delightful baby gifts that were sure to be appreciated by the new mom and dad as well as baby when she was big enough. Another unusual and very original gift was a beautifully embellished Christmas Star with baby’s name and year engraved on it. This was sure to be a hit and is something that can be used year after year and be one of those things both parents and baby will treasure always.

No child can resist a colorful gift be it a rattle or ball. Some other popular baby gifts I thought suitable are engraved silver money boxes, baby calendars with a different baby picture for each month with baby’s name displayed, CD’s with songs or Christmas stories personalized with baby’s name being sung or read throughout, which seems to be the ultimate in personalized baby gifts.

Looking around at the fantastic selection of gifts that could be bought for a little one of any age today, I couldn’t help thinking of the limited selection my parents had to contend with, although they did their best and that was to shower us with love. That, I think is the very best gift any baby could have. Nothing can beat all those warm cuddles, hugs and sloppy kisses that bring parents and children so much closer and the resultant warmth is sure to last much longer than any expensive gift could do.
