Chihuahua is not an exception while it comes to dog training. The entire thing that it requires during the training is lots of patience and creativity from the owner side. Also, the dog temperament should be understood in order to teach some good command to your dog. Chis are intelligent and lively in nature and love physical activities and that stimulate their mind. And of course reward and praise are essential to entice them to do the tricks.

Chihuahua is a petite dog with strong character. And in fact, they can actually control the home and its master. So this is the reason for the need of Chihuahua training. While training, make sure that your dog is obeying you instead of controlling you. Another reason behind the dog training is to make the bond between you and your dog stronger thereby to ensure his loyalty to you.

Teaching Your Chihuahua:
During the training sessions, you have to remember that patience is the crucial thing to start with. Avoid the training at the time when you are angry or tired. And, make sure that you do only one trick at a time and keep the treat with you.

The most important is potty training and they should be trained at early age. You can train your chi to potty outside of the house devoting a lot of time for the potty training for them. Else, you can visit potty professor, the site that is only for teaching owner about Chihuahua potty training.

Even the basic commands are important and shouldn’t be neglected. The commands like sit, come, stay, down and roll, etc. Place the dog on the table while teaching as it will be tiresome to bend all the time.

The other recommended training is crate training. This is the best tool for the better potty training. Check that you have your dog rightly potty done after eating, waking up and whenever you see them sniffing and circling around.

Handling Your Chihuahua:
The first ever rule to handle Chihuahua dog is to be patient and gentle with them. The choke collars shouldn’t be used as this can damage their neck and they can easily hurt them. A flat buckle collar is the best option to use as to prevent their trachea damage.

The exercise must be done at regular basis. But, however they don’t need a extreme training or long walk as they are small dog and they get readily tired. And if you want to take the dog for the walk during cold season, wear him a sweater as they are prone to cold temperature. It will be better to avoid taking them out at cold though the temp is 35oF.

Don’t let you chi to jump from the heights as it can hurt your dog intensively. Joint disorder and fractures are the major problem in this dog, do carefully handle them. At the end, always be patient and maintain the same level of consistency with the Chihuahua training if you want your chi to be loyal with you.
