Keeping Your Baby Warm and Fuzzy  [Valid RSS feed]

By Jennifer Gormly 29 or more times read  Submitted 2012-01-29 20:42:36

Babies tend to get colder easier than adults and so, they need to be warmed up every so often. For the freezing winter season, they need more warmth than usual. That is why it is best to use a down throw blanket. These types of blankets give the most comfort to babies and they are the warmest too. Your precious little ones will surely feel cozy wrapped in one of these even during the coldest winter day.

There are many types of down throw blankets available in the market today. The quality of the blanket depends on the type of down used. One type is the eider blanket. The fine material of this blanket is harvested from the feathers of the Northern Hemisphere sea water ducks. The cloth is really light and keeps the heat in for excellent warmth and comfort. If you’re still not convinced, you can also go for the goose down throw blanket. It is almost exactly the same as the eider type. There are many other types but these two are the most durable and provides the best warmth at very reasonable and affordable prices.

Your baby will definitely love and get attached to these down throw blankets. They are manufactured with natural materials that are gentle on the skin and very easy to wash. You won’t have to trouble yourself washing away the stains left by your baby. You should also check the stitching when picking out the best blanket. Those with regular V stitching, box stitching and quilt square are the notable ones to have as these types fixes the down in place. Even after a rough and tumble in the washing machine, you can still even out the blanket. If you end up getting a quilt with a different stitching, it’s very likely that the down will clump up together after regular use. Babies hate lumpy and uneven blankets.

Down throw blanket have natural oils in them and it’s the great thing about them as these oils lock the heat in the material. They also keep the feathers fluffy and soft. Thus, you should always wash the blanket carefully but not too often because you might end up wearing off the natural oils. Use chemical free detergents when cleaning the blanket. As much as possible, don’t send it to the dry cleaners to avoid getting a stain on it from all the chemicals used on it.

Always keep your baby’s best interest in mind when shopping for a blanket. Remember that nights could get cold and so will your baby with a cheap and thin material. Make sure to get a hold of the material and check if it is comfortable enough. Hold the blanket against your face and your hands to see if it is soft and warm enough for your child. You should also check for the thickness of the material as well as its durability. It might be pricey but it is all for the sake and safety of your baby.
