With mass media blatantly showing off skinny girls wearing barely there clothing, it is no wonder the youth nowadays has been living in what we would call the culture of insecurity. Teenage girls now all want to have a sleek and sexy body like what their idol Miley Cyrus or Megan Fox. There seems to be no problem in adolescent kids wanting to have nice bodies, you would think. The problem is that they are not motivated in the right way at all. While already skinny teens aim at looking sexy at a very young age, rather curvy and chubby girls shrink even smaller with insecurity. As parents, it is our job to correct these misconceptions and motivate them rightly. If not motivated rightly, teens defense mechanism will only further push them to eat even more, thus already risking their health to obesity.

Parents should remind their kids that the first and primary reason why they should consider losing weight is because of health issues. They should be assured that they are first loved and accepted for who they are, and that your only concern is for their health. By actually reiterating this, you are soothing the certain part of their minds that is insecure and doubting. Looks should only be a secondary reason. Plus, parents should also remind their kids that their fascination with the skinny and waif like models on tv should not go as far as imitating their lifestyle. Most of the ways through which the models in glossy magazines get their skinny bodies from are considered very unhealthy. Some even do starvation diets, while some take harmful medicines. There should be some kind of parental guidance regarding what inspires them on tv or on print. The next thing that parents should consider is the actually diet that you push your child to. The type of diet that will effectively help in the diet of your kid depends on the age of your kid. If your child is more active despite the excess body flab, you could consider having her take the low calorie or the low carbohydrate diet. You can further engage your child to appreciate the new diet by searching for new and unique recipes that would add flavor to the dishes without actually adding to the carbohydrate and the calorie content. For parents who want to instill a healthy lifestyle upon their child, it is best to have her try the vegetarian diet. Or if this does not go well with your kid, you can have organic food instead. They are healthy and perfect for losing weight as well. By making the food as creative yet still as tasty as possible despite the incorporation of the new diet plan, you are further encouraging your child to lose weight.

Parents should take an active part in the weight loss process of their children. With them around, there is higher possibility for the diet and the weight loss plan to succeed. You should never underestimate the help of a parent in the effective implementation of a diet program!
