Initially only fir trees were used as Christmas trees. It is said that once upon a time, St. Boniface of Germany cut down the tree of Thor to disprove the legitimacy of the Norse gods. However, a fir tree grew out of the root of the oak tree. He took it as a symbol of Christianity and said that, ‘Let Christ be the centre of your household’. Thus was born the tradition of bringing home a fir tree during Christmas. Over the years, the tradition underwent quite a few changes and other evergreen coniferous trees started being used as Christmas trees in place of fir.

Now that is also on the way out. Using artificial Christmas trees in place real is catching up very fast. However, this is not a new phenomenon. Such trees started being manufactured in Germany during the 19th century only. Goose feather were dyed green to produce such trees. However, artificial Christmas trees that are being produced today are far superior in quality and some resemble the natural trees so closely that one can hardly tell the difference.
Artificial Christmas trees are actually an economical and hassle free way of celebrating Christmas. If you can store it properly, the same tree can come in use year after year. In fact, buy one for your patio to extend the holiday spirit through out the year. Let it remind you of our Lord Jesus everyday and bring solace to the mind.

From a more secular aspect, artificial Christmas trees can create a beautiful focal point for your patio décor. Use one intelligently to create the right atmosphere for a Christmas party. Unless it is very cold, a party organized in your patio can create more possibilities than one organized inside the home. However, for that you need more than an artificial Christmas tree. You must also make sure that your guest feels comfortable there and so you must not only make adequate sitting arrangement, but also must have a patio heater to spread out warmth in the cold weather.

However, today you have such a large variety of each article that choosing one becomes quite a difficult task. The artificial Christmas trees come in various colors. Therefore, you have the option to choose one according to the color scheme as well. Then again, there are pre lit varieties too. These trees come strung with lights and so you do not have to bother about untangling strands of light. You just put in a few traditional decorative pieces and your tree is ready. At the same time you can buy artificial Christmas trees with these lights and decorate them the way you want, even if that involves putting decorative candles!

As I said, a Christmas tree alone cannot create the party atmosphere. For that, your guests need to feel comfortable and they are welcome. The most important requirement here is a good host, but then again only a good host cannot do everything. He, for instance cannot take off the chill from the air. If you already have a natural gas connection, have it extended to your patio and buy a gas patio heater. It is the cleanest and most economical way of heating up your patio. There are two kinds of it; choose the one that is suitable for you:

Freestanding gas patio heater – these are portable variety.

Fixed gas patio heater – some can be permanently mounted on walls and ceilings; others are designed to be installed on the floor only.

A gas patio heater that uses natural gas is sleeker than the propane gas patio heaters because the fuel is supplied directly and unlike the later does not need to be stored in any fuel tank. That has its own advantages. You do not need to bother about taking stalk of fuel supply and getting fresh cylinder at regular intervals. You can run the heater twenty four hours a day without running out of fuel.

If you buy gas patio heater with 50,000 BTU, you will be able to keep an area upto 20 feet in diameter warm and cozy. Some of these heaters produce radiant heat. Such a heater is even more cost efficient because it will directly heat up people and objects. No energy needs to be wasted trying to heat up the air. Such a heater made from corrosion free stainless steel is equally effective for your residential as well as commercial patio. Buy one to enjoy years’ of warmth at a very low cost.
